Dear Friends and Supporters,

Thank you for opening up your hearts and being part of the Pink Gala 2008. It was an evening dedicated to Elite’s founder and my mom, Linda Martens.

Since the Pink Gala’s inception, our goal has been to raise awareness and generate support for breast cancer research, which we hope will lead to finding a cure.

I remember our first pink party in 2005. This was the year Linda found out she had cancer. As the gracious host she always was, she came out decked in pink suffering with severe back pain and having just received chemo on the Friday before the event. For three hours, she shook hands and thanked everyone for coming out.

It’s in her honor, that I continue to fight against breast cancer. In the past three years, with the help of so many in South Florida, we have been able to raise $190,000 in donations for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Giving and helping others. These are two ideas my mother shared with me at a very young age and they have become part of who I am. My Mom taught me how sharing what you have and caring about those you may never meet can make the world a better place.

Having Linda as my mom, has been the greatest present I could ever receive and being able to share her spirit with so many through our fundraising events and, in turn, raise money for others in need is a truly wonderful “present” for me.

Again, thank you for your support!

Peace, love and good health to all,

Sherri Martens
